Requirements
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug screen (including THC).
- Must have a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
- Prior experience in a shelter, veterinary clinic, or dog boarding facility preferred.
- Team‑oriented with the ability to work collaboratively and independently, following directions, policies, and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of animal care, handling, behavior, and sanitation.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as cleaning, lifting, and safe animal handling.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for interacting with the public, coworkers, and documenting animal care information.
- Exercise animals and assist with enrichment activities.
- Feed and water animals according to established schedules.
- Clean, sanitize, and disinfect cages, kennels, and outdoor areas.
- Observe animals for signs of illness and provide treatment as directed.
- Assist with vaccinations, bathing, grooming, and administering medications.
- Transfer animals between kennels or holding areas as needed.
- Assist the Dog Control Officer with impounded animals, including euthanasia on occasion.
- Maintain accurate daily records, including intake notes, diets, weights, and medications.
- Support the Dog Control Officer and/or Animal Care Specialist as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all applicable county policies and safety procedures.
- Maintain regular attendance and interact professionally with the public and coworkers.
- Part‑time, 18–24 hours per week, Thursday–Saturday
- $20–$22 per hour
