Columbia County Public Health is seeking dependable Young Adult Tobacco Inspectors to assist with tobacco retailer compliance inspections throughout Columbia County. This unique position helps reduce youth access to tobacco products while building valuable workplace skills and experience.
Requirements
Must be 18, 19, or 20 years of age.- Possess a valid government-issued photo ID or driver's license.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Strong observation, communication, and reporting skills.
- Ability to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time.
- Must complete required Columbia County Public Health training prior to conducting inspections.
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal history background check.
Essential Duties
- Participate in tobacco compliance inspections alongside Columbia County Public Health staff.
- Attempt tobacco purchases as part of Minimum Legal Sales Age compliance checks.
- Follow established inspection procedures and protocols.
- Accurately document inspection activities and results.
- Handle cash and collect required information or evidence during inspections.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Represent Columbia County Public Health positively within the community.
Schedule
- Part-time, temporary, as-needed position.
- Flexible schedule with hours determined based on inspection needs.
- Schedule to be discussed during the interview process.
- Required training provided before participating in inspections.
- Transportation is provided for all inspections conducted within Columbia County.
Rate of Pay
- $25.00 per hour
